Your Session Experience

Every dog has their own story, and no two sessions will ever be the same.

My goal is to capture your dog in a way that feels real and true to who they are, in a place where they can be themselves — whether that’s romping on the beach, exploring a quiet forest trail, wandering through the city, or adventuring to a mountain top.

And if your dog won’t naturally pose for the camera? That’s completely okay! Your dog doesn’t need to sit perfectly, look at the camera on command, or have any special training. Some of my favourite images come from simply letting dogs explore, play and be themselves.

Before your session, we’ll chat about your dog and their personality, favourite places, quirks, what they love, and anything they don’t. From there, I’ll help plan a session that suits them best.

I also take the season, location, light and weather into consideration when planning. If your dog hates the rain, let’s plan for a drier month. If they’re happiest with space to run, we’ll choose somewhere that gives them that freedom.

Sessions are relaxed, never rushed, and there’s always time for treats, sniff breaks and a little exploring along the way.

From a forest adventure to the city, a wildflower-filled meadow or the beach, I’m happy to adventure to one of your favourite places or take you to one of mine.

Litter Packages

A fun, puppy-safe session designed for breeders who want to capture those little details and personalities before their puppies head off to their forever homes.

These images make a beautiful addition to puppy go-home packages, breeder websites and social media.

Session Includes:

2 hours of photographs at your home (or another puppy safe location)

A proofing gallery where you’ll choose your favourite images

12 fully edited, high-resolution images

Additional images available for purchase

I recommend booking these when puppies are approximately 6–8 weeks old.

Golden Hearts Session

Inspired by my own dog Chance and created for dogs who are nearing the end of their life or have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. These sessions are held with gentleness, patience, and deep compassion — honouring the love, loyalty, and bond you’ve shared through the years.

My goal is to create a peaceful space where we can capture these precious memories.

FAQ

Do you travel for photoshoots?

Most sessions take place around the Lower Mainland of BC — but I’m always up for an adventure. Travel within 35 km of Cloverdale is included; anything beyond that may incur a travel fee. I also make it out to the East Kootenays once or twice a year and love planning sessions while I’m there. Have a favourite spot in mind? Let’s talk about it!

Will you work with nervous, reactive, or fearful dogs?

Absolutely. I have plenty of experience working with nervous, fearful, and reactive dogs. While Ridgebacks are my breed, I’ve spent more than 17 years working with a wide range of dogs — from shelter rescues to my own reactive girl, Gemma — each with their own quirks and comfort levels.

Every session is built entirely around your dog’s needs — from location to giving them the time and space to settle in. My approach is calm, patient, and flexible so your dog feels safe, relaxed, and understood. Their well-being always comes first!

What if my dog can't be off leash?

Not a problem at all! I always bring a thin leash (with 10, 15 or 30 foot options) which is easy to edit out. If your dog has difficulty interacting with other dogs (or people!) please let me know in advance so we can take that into account when choosing a location.

What should I bring to a photo shoot?

Please bring high value treats and/or toys as well as a leash.

How long does it take to receive photos?

You’ll receive a private online proofing gallery within 7 days of the session. I will include a few fully edited previews so you can see how the final photos will look. From there, you’ll select your favourites. The full gallery will be delivered within 2-4 weeks.

Can I reschedule my session?

Yes. If you need to reschedule a booked session, please contact me at info@reddogphotography.com

If you’re within 48 hours of your session, a rescheduling or cancellation fee will apply. This helps cover the time that can no longer be offered to another client.

If severe weather becomes a factor, there’s no rescheduling fee — we’ll simply find a new date that works. In general, sessions move forward rain, shine or snow, and truly adds to each sessions own magic.

Will you hike in for a session?

Yes! This is one of my favourite ways to get pictures of your dog doing what they love most. Let me know where you have in mind and let's make your dream come true!
